Our UHV cell helps students and staff think clearly about values, relationships and their place in society, as part of AICTE's Universal Human Values programme.
Universal Human Values
The UHV Cell: value education, induction programmes, reflection circles and outreach.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) introduced Universal Human Values (UHV) into the student induction programme and the engineering curriculum. UHV asks a simple question: what does it mean to live and work well with others?
Students explore themselves, their families, society and nature through guided self-reflection and discussion, not through lectures on rules. The aim is clarity: understanding what you value, and acting on it.
Students here learn to build powerful AI systems. They also need judgement about fairness, privacy and the people their work affects. UHV gives that judgement a foundation, and our values-and-technology talks connect it directly to AI and engineering decisions.
A guided introduction for every first-year student to self-exploration, relationships and life on campus.
A credit course in the curriculum that builds on the induction through discussion and reflection.
Workshops that prepare faculty members to mentor students and facilitate UHV sessions.
Small-group conversations led by faculty mentors through the academic year.
Sessions on fairness, privacy and responsibility in AI and engineering decisions.
Service activities with nearby schools and neighbourhoods that put values into practice.
